RESTORATION ROBOTICS LAUNCHES ITS REVOLUTIONARY ARTAS SYSTEM TO TREAT HAIR LOS
First Patient Treated Is Coinciding With And Celebrating National Hair Loss Awareness Month
Mountain View, CA – August 15, 2011 – Restoration Robotics, Inc. a privately-held medical device company, today announced the treatment of the first commercial patient using the ground-breaking ARTAS™ System, the first and only FDA cleared, physician controlled, interactive, computer assisted technology that allows safe and effective follicular unit extraction (FUE). The ARTAS System was developed in close collaboration with several leading hair restoration physicians to enable minimally invasive harvesting of hair follicles. The patient Vincent DeLany, was treated by James Harris, MD, of the Hair Sciences Center of Colorado (Denver, CO). Dr. Harris, a world-renowned hair surgeon, was a key principal investigator in the clinical studies.
"We couldn't be more pleased with the results – which were consistent to what we saw during the clinical trial across a broad group of patients," commented James Harris, MD, of the Hair Sciences Center in Denver, CO. "This technology allows patients to permanently regain the vitality of their appearance affected by hair loss. Surgeons will now be able to shorten the learning curve required to master FUE technique, deliver consistent and quality results, and meet the growing demand by patients seeking less invasive hair restoration options."
"I started losing my hair when I was in my mid-20's and it was a huge blow to my selfconfidence. I started seeking a permanent solution ever since," said Vincent DeLany, ARTAS Procedure patient. "I was really excited to learn about the ARTAS System and all its benefits. I'm incredibly happy with the experience. There was no discomfort and I was able to return to my daily activities quickly," concluded Vincent DeLany.
"We are focused on a controlled rollout to core specialty physicians, an effort that will be accompanied by educational support and technical training to ensure the highest standard of patient care," said Jim McCollum, Chief Executive Officer, Restoration Robotics. "This is just the beginning for Restoration Robotics and we are excited about bringing the ARTAS System to physicians globally."
Hair Loss By The Numbers
68% of men feel helpless about their hair loss
Hair restoration moves healthy, functioning follicles to the areas of the patient's scalp most impacted by baldness for more dramatic results. New hair continues to grow over the course of a full year, resulting in a gradual change in the patient's appearance over time. Hair restoration is the only permanent solution for hair loss.
